Letter to Resource Persons.
REGISTRATION WITH NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH (NIEH): AN ORGAN OF ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH COUNCIL OF NIGERIA (EHCN) AS A RESOURCE PERSON
Recall that Act No. 11 of 2022, that established the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria (EHCN), was recently amended through the great efforts of the Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of EHCN, Dr. Baba Yakubu Mohammed and signed on the 25th August, 2022 by the President and commander-in Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, to contain and convey the establishment of “National Institute of Environmental Health” (NIEH), Nigeria.
2. The aim of the Institute is to provide for the practitioners of environmental health and the public domain, formidable and reliable research, education and training that will lead to prevention of diseases, disorders and disabilities, promote public health and prolong life.
3. The objectives of the Institute include but not limited to: advance research on environmental health triggers of disease, disorders and disabilities; communicate advances in environmental health sciences to the practitioners, institutions and public, foster education, training and development of young environmental health scientists and practitioners; develop improved safety assessment research on air, water, soil/land, food, chemical and other environmental factors and to carry out collaborative, consultative and linkage services in Nigeria and beyond.
4. The NIEH is at the verge of commencement of its mandate of research, education and training in collaboration and partnership with reputable universities in Nigeria and other relevant institutions/organizations on certificate courses, graduate and post graduate programmes.
5. The Institute will be executing these mandates by engaging qualified and experienced resource persons drawn from the professionals and practitioners, holding valid practice licenses as specialists and consultants from the Environmental Health Council of Nigeria.
6. Consequently, the specialists and consultants that are interested in serving as resource persons for the Institute will be required to indicate their interest by filling form NIEH/001 available at the Institute’s website and pay the annual registration fee of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) only.
